Kazimir Malevich: Suprematism

Produced in conjunction with an exhibition presented at Deutsche Guggenheim, Berlin; Guggenheim New York, and the Menil Foundation, Houston. Malevich opened the door to a form of modern art that continues to define us. Its roots are about spirituality and purity; hence, the black cover, which is a tight detail of one of the paintings. The book’s typographic grid emphasizes the square, as a kind of platonic foundation upon which the artist’s work and thinking were built. The font, Frutiger Light, points toward the subsequent minimalism he anticipated.
