La Trajectoire du Regard
Published in conjunction with the exhibition “La Trajectoire du Regard: Une Collection de Photographies du XXe siècle” by Corbeau et Ranard, France to celebrate an exhibition in Monaco by the same name. The work contained within the book is not just about a seminal collection of photography, but about the philosophy of collecting; about collecting as a very considered, very personal act. The title, roughly translated as “the hunter’s aim” refers to the notion that to collect photography is, in a sense, not dissimilar to looking through a camera’s lens. In a characteristically iconoclastic gesture, the owner of this collection chose for the cover of the book an anonymous early 20th Century French drawing, which he saw as not a portrait of himself, but a portrait of the individual as collector. Silver cloth flexi-bind. Full color and tri-tone throughout. In French, with English text in the back section.
February 2006. 368 pages, 280 × 220 mm. ISBN 3-932187-51-2.
